C-type Prints from Film
59 galleries
C-type or 'chromogenic' prints derive from negative or positive film which has been scanned to produce a 'digital negative/positive' image. The digital image is projected by a laser or LED, instead of a bulb and enlarger, on to photographic paper. The second part of the traditional process is much the same however: the paper is processed in a photographic developer, followed by a bleach fix before being washed to remove the processing chemicals. The result is a very stable, archival print which should last for many years (100+) if cared for and displayed correctly.
